If this hike is not on your Top 10 hikes in Banff National Park, it should be. Consolation Lakes is a hike that starts out at Moraine Lake, by Lake Louise, Alberta. The hike is rated easy, is 5.8 kilometers out and back, and has an elevation gain of 255 meters. It has everything that the Rocky Mountains has to offer.
I did this hike on Wednesday Sept. 19/2018. If you expect to park at the Moraine Lake parking lot, you have to be there early. I arrived just after 6AM and the lot was over half full. It was cloudy and cool when I arrived, -2 degrees celcius. Just after 8AM the clouds started to burn off, giving me a spectacular sunny day for my hike.

Next week we are back here at Moraine Lake to do the hike up to Larch Valley, where the Larch trees have now turned a brilliant golden color. CHEERS
