Today’s stop on our road trip through the Rocky Mountains to the west coast of Canada is to Cave and Basin. Cave and Basin is a historic site in Banff National Park.
Cave and Basin is the birthplace of the national parks in Canada. It is located on the aptly named Sulphur Mountain. On the day we went, the sulphur smell was quite strong. Jack, who is 7 years old, is definitely the most sensitive to the smell and spent most of the visit with his hand over his nose.
The water at the Cave and Basin historical site was amazing colours. It was crystal clear with beautiful hues and blues and greens.
On the boardwalk, you were able to climb Sulphur mountain where they had all sorts of information boards and breathtaking views.
Cave and Basin, in Banff National Park, will definitely be a place that we go exploring again in the future.
